Taylor is a good place to have a horse ranch or a cattle ranch. It is located in Williamson County approximately 8 miles south of Granger and 9 miles east of Hutto. In 2010, the population was 15,191 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Taylor is only 29 miles from Austin making it easy to commute to Austin, San Antonio, or Houston.

Ranchers have two local veterinary clinics to choose from for their equine or cattle health needs. Taylor Veterinary Hospital and Graef Veterinary Hospital are both located in Taylor.

Taylor TX Horse Riding Clubs

Horse riding clubs close to Taylor are the Texas Lost Pines Riding Club and the Black Land Riding Club. Texas Lost Pines Riding Club is located in Elgin off of Highway 95 where they host rodeos, barrel races, and monthly play days. Black Land Riding Club is a family oriented club that hosts play days in Georgetown at the Williamson County Sheriff's Posse Arena. Both clubs are open to all ages and experience levels. Every summer, the Taylor Rodeo Association sponsors its Annual Rodeo at the East Williamson County Arena in Taylor.

Taylor has several things to do for entertainment. There is a local movie theatre called The Howard Theatre, which has two movie theatres and games for fun and entertainment. There is also the Governor Dan Moody Museum and the Taylor Regional Park & Sports Complex for baseball and other sports. For swimming, there are two pools -- the Murphy Park Aquatic Center and Robinson Pool. Every May, there is a Taylor Blackland Prairie Days with live talent, food, arts and crafts, and children’s activities. And every June, there is a Taylor Truck and Tractor Pull at the East Williamson County Arena.

Taylor has many different restaurants to enjoy. Some of the Taylor restaurants are the Sirloin Stockade, Louie Mueller BBQ, Mariachi's de Jalisco, Applebee's, Davis BBQ, Lucky Duck Cafe, La Nusta Peruvian Bistro, and many more. There is also a Czech bakery called The Kolache Shoppe with delicious fruit kolaches, a variety of meat kolaches, cakes, and cookies!

There are several churches in Taylor. Some of the churches include Christ Fellowship Church, First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Jerusalem Pentecostal Church, First Christian Church, Zion Chapel Baptist Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church, St. James’ Episcopal Church, Memorial Baptist Church, Brethren Church, Church of Christ and many more.

For shopping there is Bealls, Wal-mart Supercenter, H-E-B grocery store, etc. During May through October, you can find fresh produce sold by the local area farmers at the Taylor Area Farmer's Market.
